Default Adding RAM to boost SSD endurance?

    Interesting article on tomshardware. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ance,3475.html

A minor hardware upgrade can have a major impact. Adding RAM to your PC may help cut back on writes to your SSD, potentially increasing its lifespan. In fact, our benchmarks reveal up to a 63% reduction with 16 GB of DDR3 memory compared to 4 GB.

Thanks, good to know. A RAM drive also helps (for writing temporary files and browser cache). I love RAM... For my next pc, I'll add 32Gb RAM.

I must say, having the RAM drive makes a difference to performance and also prevents the wasting of space due to temporary files building up (since everything is lost on reboot). I usually start my computer up on Sunday evening into my work OS and then reboot into my gaming OS late on Friday. For this week alone, my Temp folder on my RAM Drive is sitting at 1Gb... That is excluding the temporary documents / projects that I work with (e.g. downloaded pdf & zip files that I won't use again).

Yup, that's pretty much what it comes down to.

Interesting tech tip. I've been itching for an excuse to upgrade from my 8GB of RAM - this may be it
