I really wish that comes into effect. At least once it does, I won't have to threaten people with a jerry can and a box of matches. (That is a long story..)
I just wISH they would also require these marketers to put their company name in the sms that gets sent. At the moment i get about 3 marketing type sms' a week none with a name all for some type of insurance. Problem with the opt-out is it costs you r2 yet you arent sure who you opted out for and the messages still come through on a weekly basis
I must say, ever since I registered on that do-not-contact list, I've been getting very few sms and phone calls... Just the emails that are still bugging me. I've maybe had 2 calls this year from a cellphone company, couple of sms'es and one (maybe two, but can't remember the 2nd time) calls from FNB and their partners, but they have my consent because it is required for earning eBucks... they've been pretty responsible with that consent though.
I think I registered here: https://www.nationaloptout.co.za
