Chasing Inspiration LAN - Durbans First Charity LAN
Chase Tanner has been diagnosed with Leukemia from at the age of 16.
The disease is in its advanced stages, called Acute leukemia, where the leukemia cells can't do any of the work of normal white blood cells.
Acute leukemia usually worsens quickly, and without a bone marrow transplant operation, will prove fatal within 2 years.
The cost of the entire procedure is unbelievable in price and time. Just to get a person tested costs around R2000,
while statistics show chances of finding someone having the right DNA is between 1:1000 and 1:100000. See the bone marrow statistics post.
Admin, transport, and procedural costs contribute for the remaining amount needed to carry through with the operation.
As an example, if Chase’s family find a match outside the country, they have to pay for the matches’ (and one relative) flight and accommodation during the procedure.
The Sunflower foundation is willing to sponsor towards some of the tests, but not all of it. This means that a very large sum of money has to be paid by Chase's family.
Our current project is the '
Chasing Inspiration LAN', having around 200 people attend and contribute toward raising funds.
The LAN will be taking place between the 8th and 10th of November, from Friday to Sunday, at the
IMM Marketing's Atlas Campus.
The admission fee for gamers will be R110, whilst spectators can enter for R40. An added fee will be issued for the various competitions set up throughout the LAN.
There is secure parking for up to 100 vehicles, as well as lift access from there to the LAN destination.
The venue is split up into 2 halls, each housing around 100 people comfortably.
Sturdy tables and padded chairs are available for all Gamers to use, at 2 people per table. Clans can pre book for their entire team to have special seating arrangements made, as well as the availability to set up their own banners and advertising.
Atlas Campus has extended their sponsorship and offered us their 4mb internet connection. We are, however, in the process of acquiring a 40mb line to stream to the venue, to increase the gain for the Lanners.
Competitions will be announced closer to the time; with the likes of DoTA 2, COD:4, BattleField, and others being thought of.
The venue has a dedicated and fully equipped canteen to purchase food and eat at (on a different floor), however coffees and drinks will be sold closer to the LAN destination. Coffee can be ordered at your table, and will be delivered to you when it is ready.
There is also a roof area that we can take use of, for a relaxation area and for smokers. The roof has a great view overlooking Durban and Springfield.
The LAN isn't only limited to PC Gaming, as we will be setting up Consoles for people to play on.
Competition Finals will be projected in the two main gaming halls, so everyone can keep up with the action.
Ticket sales will be purely online. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Disclaimer:: The LAN will not make piracy a readily available aspect. We are setting up to be a competitive gaming destination, not a pirate hub. There will be no DC server, and internet downloads will be restricted. The LAN is a charity event, and will be policed as such. An Indemnity Form must be signed by everyone attending the LAN before entering the building.
A big thanks to our sponsors who've helped make the LAN a reality! Images removed due to rule 12, and I don't want this deleted again...
