Already happy with Office 2007 so not really interested in buying the new version just for xbox live unless I convince my work to upgrade from 2003 so I can take the promotion.

just an update. this offer is, as usually is the case, for new subscriptions only. luckily mine was running out, and i needed to upgrade. so a simple "cancel now, subscribe again" was used to get my code. yay for me.
