Interesting video, but it almost sounds like TotalBiscuit knows of a ton of failed kickstarter games. Does anybody know which games those are? I'm still waiting for my first personal-backed kickstarter game to come out, but FTL (the only one I've played) is an absolutely epic game. And Shadowrun returns appears to be very decent. That looks like two successes in my books, and zero failures?

Could it be that people are just cautious and have decided to play the waiting game on games that they have already backed and wait and see how that turns out before backing more?

Add chivalry - medieval warfare to the list of successes (after watching the vid).

When an anti-piracy method is affecting the game for people who legitimately bought it and causing other people not to buy the game, there is obviously something wrong with it!

I'm sure there are quite a few failed kickstarters, but its like any investment in a company, it comes with risk. You shouldnt invest in kickstarter if you don't understand it comes with a risk. Still think its a brilliant system where you can essentially vote for what you want by investing in it, rather than leaving it up to EA or something else.

The way he was talking about it you'd swear it was a pandemic with 90% of kickstarters going that route. $120,000 and you can't make a board game? That's just criminal.

Caveat emptor. As with any purchase the vendor should be vetted and money only transferred if there is a reasonable chance that they can deliver on their promises. This should be common sense I also love the kickstarter idea.

Sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about. What time in the video are you referring to?

Pretty much the first 19 minutes of the video. If he didn't think the situation was grim, why did he go through all of the effort to make a 20 minute long video about kickstarter vs pre-order? Maybe that was just the impression that I got from the video.
