I keep having things like that happen with family, not such a big thing, but little stuff that you really want to be part of, and I guess you can't really blame them for wanting to be part of the kid's experiences, but it's like they rob you of some special moments. It's really that they are being good to the kid, but they should really consider if it's something that the parents want to be part of.
All I knew is that she wanted to spend the day with him, and I thought, "sure, that'll be nice for him"

What really irks me, is that she's got 4 weeks off varsity. They could have waited for a weekend, or to see if I could get a day off work. I've told them on numerous occasions that I would like to take him. I'm fucking livid!

Now I have to experience his excitement via fucking whatsapp pics and video. I'M FUCKING PISSED OFF!!!
Agreed, I'd be mighty pissed off. Also, not cool to take him without your permission to a place he could potentially get hurt. Who signs the waiver for that?

Anyways, was there a few weeks back when we were on holiday. Take him again, you won't get him off the rides. Five minutes on the way back from there he was knocked out on the back seat.

I dont mind when my son goes with the grandparents, its good for them both, but they clear with me whether its ok, just common courtesy.
Not cool what the did, more so if they knew you planned something.

I worry about that, my son is extremely close to us, should he need to stay in hospital, its going to be almost impossible to leave him alone. Dropping him off at pre-school, he just turned 5 (not always, but sometimes) or sometimes for a sleepover with either grandparents, he has trouble with separating from us. We have spoken to a child psychologist, says its just a phase, but still, what if now sometime.

Yeah, wife had to stay with him the whole time. I was basically the vessel to ensure that they had clean clothes and misc snacks. The grandparents made sure he got new toys

That is a big thing hey, especially if they knew you wanted to take him. I would feel really robbed

Rough times man, my kid had his first stay in hospital last month. My wife spent the night because they would only allow one parent to be there between 10pm and 6am, so I raced home to pack her a bag, and left when they kicked me out, and arrived back at 6am so she could go home and get some sleep.

And shame, he spent his whole 2nd birthday in the hospital, not the way we had planned celebrating.

Luckily the hospital allowed my wife to stay with him the entire time, from Thursday evening to Sunday morning, with me being able to come and go as I pleased. Poor nibbler was so confused as to why the nurses took him away and jabbed him with needles the whole time though.

My little dude also quite sick he didn't need to stay in hospital but still worrying he has croup so we have to nebulize him every 4 hours and it doesn't appear to be getting better yet but the doctor did say it will get worse first

heart breaking isn't it? They allowed us to stay the whole time as well, but only one parent overnight. The only time they wouldn't let us be with him was when they took him off to put a drip in.

Well, the little one got his revenge...most of the nurses were black and blue from him fighting with them. I'm still amazed at just quite how strong he is. My poor wife struggles to keep him down if he decides to wiggle himself out of something.
