I love how my son amazes me. He start with Grade 1 this year and obviously started to learn to read. We had to help him every night with a couple of words, but becuase he is tired he gets frustrated. I was worried that he might struggle, but didnt pressure him, that would be the last thing to do.
Last night, we unpacked his bag, wanting to see which words he needed to learn. He himself took out a book, opened and started reading. I was amazed! Its not very complicated words, stuff like mamma, pappa and other easy words in very short sentences, but damn...what an amazing experience.
I remember reading (I read slowly ok...) about how a childs brain, especially in the early years, soak up so much and learn very fast. Raising a kid is so much more than just food and clothes, I realise I state the obvious, but I mean more the experiences you go through, watching them grow up and being able to do more and more for themselves. From relativly easy stuff like pouring his own cooldrink, making a sandwidch, etc. And time....holy crap it goes by fast, he is turn 7 this year...
