Cool For the love of speed and beauty

I know there's a thread for all too post the cars they drive, but this thread is more for those of you who loves speed and all the pretty cars you get, like me!

Every other weekend, I attend some or other racing event, drags, quarter mile, circuit and illegal dices. The venues I visit most: Tarlton International Raceway, Zwartkops, Randfontein Oval Racing, Kyalami and for the illegal dices we normally get tip offs where to meet and take it from there.

What I'm hoping to achieve with this thread is for people to post event dates and venues, as well as photos or info from the races you attend.

I'll start it off with some pics from the last two Tarlton Fast Fest events I attended:

Nope, not a fan of that kind of racing, I am involved at Killarney with the classic car and Sports GT races. (It helps that my dad drives a Lotus Seven Replica he built himself). So I am at the race track for one sat a month to watch them race. My brother also works for Harp Motorsports, who builds and maintains some of the various race cars on the track at Killarney.

Give me the classics any day before the crappy porches and Fords and so forth. As for the shyte that is drag racing - I don't watch it nor do I enjoy it. Racing isnt how fast a car goes on a straight line, its the beauty of racing, overtaking, planning, learning a track and improving an overall lap time.

At least Killarney is doing something for the drag racers. They allow drag racing, people pay R50 per person, anyone can participate, as long as they follow some basic rules. This is making drag racing at least a hell of a lot safer.

Ja Kyalami also recently re-opened their drag strip again. Also go there alot to watch my uncle Melville Priest (drives for Audi) normally Class A races. I actually love any sort of racing but I think i'm a bit more into the "speed" aspect of it.

Here's a photo of Melville Priest's car as well:

I have just had a revelation. I hate racing games because Im super terrible at them. Those words I made bold there just klapped me upside the head when I read them. Gotta learn the tracks! I haven't been paying attention all these years, i never ever know whats coming next, almost like racing blind.

    Glad I could help. . . .

The first thing race drivers do when they get to a new track is to walk the track, even though they raced there just a year ago and on simulators, they still walk the track to see what changes was made, if repairs was made what tar mix was used. To see where dust gets blown onto the track, where the track is cracking, where the curbs are high as well as any other things that might affect the racing conditions.

and as Eugene said. . . I am not an "oke"
