I don't pirate often. I use to pirate games when I was at Varisty, and couldn't really afford them. Honestly though, no regrets, its most likely the reason I still play games today and now buy them. The last couple games I pirated where Duke Nukem forever and Rage, both games I played about an hour and never again. Didn't enjoy them, if I thought they were any good I would have bought them.

gaming is an expensive hobby. investing in a big game without taking it for a drive is like buying a car without taking it out for a spin. i only ever pirated a game when there was no demo available. these days fewer and fewer games have demos, but thankfully my Steam backlog has helped me keep busy without the need to pirate a game in probably a decade.

things like youtube and Metacritic also assisted me in deciding if i want to make a purchase so no need to pirate anything to test drive any more. yay for me being a goodie two shoes!

Oh yes, while I don't really pirate games and software like I mentioned before, I actually do kinda pirate music. I basically go onto Jango and download the music as I listen to it. I mostly listen to Gospel music though so it is a nice way to get exposed to new artists and types of music and take some time to get used to it to see if I like it... So when I eventually get to a store and the music is available, I'll buy like a bunch of CDs to catch up. A lot of it (especially the rarer genres) are kinda hard to come by in SA.

No guts, no glory, no brain, same story.

I will download a game from time to time, but I wouldn't consider myself a full-blown software pirate. Basically I'll download a game if I'm really interested in it, but I'm not sure if I'm going to like it or if I can't find it anywhere else or have some other issue buying it. I NEVER finish a game I downloaded though, I basically use the downloaded copy like a demo and if I like the game I buy it, if not I delete the image. An example would be Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. I downloaded it when it was leaked a little while before it came out, played about 2 hours and knew I would love it so I stopped playing. Since I don't have a credit card I asked a friend of mine to buy it for me when it was cheap during the Steam sale and I have since finished the game.

I pirate to test out a game and if I really really like it.. I'd buy a copy. Games are just too expensive.

I prefer to download mini images over cracks.
It's how I'm playing Dragon Age; for it's online functionality as well.
