    Default Ubisoft: Next-gen pre-orders of Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed 4 beating current-gen

Pre-orders for next-gen versions of Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag are higher than current generation versions, Ubisoft's European chief Alain Corre told MCV.

"The fans are really excited to get their hands on the new technology," Corre said. "It has been eight years without a home console from Sony or Microsoft so we feel a lot of excitement from our fans for Watch Dogs or Assassin's Creed 4. The pre-orders we are getting are much bigger on our next-gen games." This comes nearly a month after EA's Peter Moore noted that pre-orders on current-generation sports games for the publisher were notably soft.

"So we feel that the transition might be quicker," Corre added. "There is a real appetite for change." We'll have a better idea of just how hungry players are for new consoles when the Xbox One and PS4 launch this holiday season.

Well at least AC IV and Watch dogs are both releasing on PC (and every Assassin's Creed that I've played has also been on PC). I understand the excitement about next gen but at the same time I can't quite get as excited about getting it at release just yet when there isn't really that much to tickle my fancy on it (then again I'm an old fart so excuse my lack of excitement). Part of me just makes me feel like this is marketing mumbo jumbo to try and convince us all that we need to jump into the next gen ASAP instead of when we're ready for it.
We expect Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag to be well accepted. When we look at our pre-orders on next-gen, we think these two games can feature in the Top Five.

here is a number of good quality products at launch [for each console]. I think that will bring back a lot of lapsed gamers and it will also seduce new consumers to spend some more time on interactive entertainment.
Lapsed gamers taking up the next-gen off the bat? I call BS.

Well, I for one can't wait for the next-gen to hit our shores. I'm 31 years old and have been gaming since I was 5. The next-gen consoles to me are exciting because their hardware specs are awesome and their architecture allow developers to create games with techniques that have not been possible before. I can tell you this much; watch the graphics and gameplay of a game like AC4 on the current gen consoles, and then compare it to the next-gen version. Then you'll get a reason to be excited
