There are some great Lenovo's (IBM) for that price.

I have the same laptop. I play Borderlands 2, Battlefield 3, Guild Wars 2, Metro 2033 and many other modern games at the highest settings at the native resolution of the laptop at decent framerates. The red backlight on the keyboard also fits nicely with my Naga Molten

Does your model have the GT740M, though? The earlier version with the GT650M was a good bargain.

There are several revisions of the Y500, not all of them use the same chassis design in all countries. If I were you, I'd seriously consider that R12k Roccat lappie. Otherwise...

    Mecer W650SR 15.6" HD @ R10,870

A little out of budget, but its got good hardware for the price. The new Lenovo Y510 is a great choice, though.

    Default 17" laptop screen at 1600x900 or 15.6" screen at 1366 x 768

Im looking at 2 laptops with these different screens but cant decide.I dont understand resolution etc.
Will be using the laptop for work as well as gaming. Is the 17" a higher resolution?
