Medium or low settings because this laptop always overheats and shuts down. I have one of those fan things to help cool it down but that doesn't work? Any other tips?

The drivers won't help much if the game is CPU-limited, or the system is overheating, or the settings you're using are choking it. Have you ever taken it apart for a good clean and some new thermal paste?



The guy in the video does make the mistake of figuring out which chips are under which heatsink, but it gives you an idea of where to start.

i have been considering upgrading my ram as well but did not think it would have a big effect on stuff like games.

If the laptop doesn't have two memory modules in dual-channel, do it already. Intel's chips are APUs, they rely on system memory for the GPU to get stuff done. It should give you a framerate boost in the 10fps region. It can mean the difference between a stuttering game and borderline playability. Also consider using a resolution like 1280 x 720 or lower.
