Default Play Vita games on your TV with the VitaTV microconsole

The single most interesting and surprising announcement from Sony’s Japanese conference is this; a cheap, set-top box that allows you to play PS vita games on your TV. A small, sexy little competitor to the Apple TV or Roku, the Vita TV is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.

Launching in Japan this November, the Vita TV plays physical Vita games, digital PSP and Ps1 games, runs on the Vita OS and has apps for Hulu, Netflix and all of the internet streaming video goodness you’d ever need.

It’s tiny, and sexy – and uses your existing PlayStation3 controllers and remotes for input. Best of all, it’ll only cost the equivalent of $100; pretty much inline with the AppleTV. This is…amazing. There’s no word of availability outside of Japan just yet, but I’m grabbing one as soon as it becomes available.

On top of that, you can use it to remote play your PS4 games to another TV in your house…, without having to lug your console around.

A set-top media box that plays Vita games and works with PlayStation Plus to have free games all the time. Sold.

I take no credit for the above content.

I like those features sound cool, I like playing certain games on big screens compared to little screens so the wireless feature is cool wish the 3ds had it .

Sometimes I weep for the awesomeness Nintendo COULD be if they weren't so archaic and stubborn...

Everyone is selling PS Vita to me that I'm seriously considering buying it now. I've never considered mobile gaming but it's looking more and more attractive. Especially now that I spend less time working on my pc and more working.

Any idea when and how much?

This vitaTV microconsole seems like a very good product, it will increase the value of the vita brand.
I doubt we will get it here, I could be wrong but judging from the tv tuner that was launched some time ago with pvr functionality, there were actually 2 separate devices but we didn't get neither. I think it was called play tv and I forget what the other devices name was...

The new Ps Vita Slim was announced for release in Japan for October 2013,I will keep the post updated on it's international release.
They also annouced special versions of the vita, such as the Final Fantasy,God Eater and 2 others, will supply the link as soon as I find it again.

I also feel that the Vita tv tuner might not be available in SA,one might have to order it online, there is no definite pricing on it as yet.
