    Lightbulb ATI Graphics Update fix

For the longest time I had massive problems trying to update my graphics card and finally found a solution so figured I might share it

    Things mostly causing it

    Windows 7 64bit
    ATI Radeon HD 5670

Whenever I tried to update automatically or manually I would get a BSOD.

Turns out it was the HD Audio drivers in the installaion causing the issue.
    To fix

    1. Install the update and de-select the HD audio for installation.
    2. To install the audio drivers manually
My Computer>> System Properties tab >>Device Manager >>

    3. Right click the HD audio drivers and select "Update Driver Software"
    4. Direct it to wherever you installed the ATI drivers.

This should fix the problem and complete the entire update.
Do give a shout if you tried it and it worked for you

Yeah, I had a constant problem with my HD5970 and Win7x64.
Constant BSOD atikmdag problem, or Catalyst Control Center BS.

I installed Win8 this past weekend and all seems well. But having to run with MSI Afterburner to manually control fan speeds.

I've also had a problem like this, and I've had to resort to using older ATI drivers for some time, although I still get some issues from time to time with BSODs. I might try this out.

Were you guys running the 13.4 drivers or the beta's. Got win 7 64bit and a 4850,7770 and 6950 with no issues on the HD Audio side using the beta (13.10 now I believe). You guys running sound through your monitors?

    Quite a strange issue...

Naah, i use my on-board sound. The strange thing was i had it working fine (can't remember on what version), then it auto-updated to the latest version. I literally tried everything to no avail. I think I went back like 10 version or a year or two back. Gave up and plugged in my 560ti.

Took a chance this past weekend with it and loading Win8. Working at least, though I'm not too chuffed about Win8. But my games look pretty and awesome frame rates :P

Running on-board sound here too. I also went back to late version 10 or early version 11 drivers. I've got an old nvidia card lying around which I've been tempted to put back in. Never had any problems with nvidia, although that was some time ago, Things may have changed or so I've heard.

I'm running 13.4 catalyst now and everything works like a dream now after the fix. I was running ancient drivers and just wasn't getting performance out of the card. Along with that it started overheating and my PC would beep and freeze everything for a minute, play smoothly for 5 minutes and then rinse and repeat. For the longest time I thought my HD was dying but afetr the update pretty much sorted all that out. I use headphones through the MB audio port.

Technically I'm also an Nvidia fan but I this was a gift from one of my buddies and a massiveimprovement on the previous one, even with out all the updates
