    Default Telkom advise

    Need some advice

So I applied for a line last week Monday, today I get told they wont install as the copper keeps getting stolen, but the house next to mine has adsl, does anyone work or know of someone I can speak to at Telkom wrt Primrosehill, germiston, cause Telkom are saying sorry and that's that. They wont allow me to speak to a manager and wont allow me to escalate this

    WTF is going on

I've found that it often helps to keep phoning until you find someone competent

This happened to my brother about a year and a half ago at his place. The road he was on decided to write a petition with all residents to sign to have a trench dug and manholes installed with the new locking system and that the resident2 would pay towards it or something.

Within 3 months the trench was dug and cable laid free of charge, try get a trench dug in your road dude, it also totally depends how far away from the exchange you guys are.

As for not talking to a manager that's bullshit on their part, just go into a Telkom store closest to your area and chat to someone there.

I don't know why they don't just replace stolen copper with fiber. Good way to start upgrading their network, and I don't think fiber has any resale value, so it wouldn't get stolen

they wont let you speak to a manager???? I phoned them twice last week and the minute i got to a consultant i just told them I want a manger because me issue is not being resolved dont let them walk over you maybe you just need to get pissed off enough

Alternatively you can get a line bundle from afrihost and see if they can help they have "connections" that help resolve these types of issues

Sounds like BS to me, and if your neighbour has ADSL then its definitely BS. Keep rashing them.

Hey dude, everyone claims to say that phoning will help your situation, which it wont unfortunately, Telkom owns the country.

Give you a prime example, Ordered mine over years ago and they keep changing their story(The funny part of this, we convinced the body corperate to put a telkom unit for the cabling out each unit and they still wont give me internet), you will not succeed in Twitter, FB, going to the newspapers(BTW I have done everything in my power, even spoke to our companies account manager and he cant do squat). Telkom just don't care about your cash. However they care if you wanna use 3G though. If you bitch hardcore at telkom they will just add you to the 8ta spam phone list, where they phone you every wenesday offering you either LTE or 3G with 15 GB.

Im sorry there is nothing you can do at all. If I were you, keep checking everyday on Mybroadband, I found out just last week that kempton and germiston get Fibre from this one company.

You should maybe also consider Wimax from Omibiya or Kwazuluconnect.

This method did not work for us, we had holes dug up and they are still there but no telkom wont come, also installed physical telkom boxes and they still wont come.

What about asking to share the internet connection with your neighbour, and then sharing the costs? I know its not ideal, but if your neighbours are light users it would work out in your favour.

Guess it depends on your neighbour. personally wouldnt do it cause if he is a super i.t dude, he can qos your ass to kingdom come.or if he is a compelete noob he will blame you for everything, from his scanner scanning slow cause you using the internet.to his keyboard stopped working when he gave you internet access. So thats really up to you and your neighbour.

But honestly if I could get wimax, it has uncapped and is far more stable than 3g or iburst.

Ag, I share internet with a house, but I pay for the data, they pay for the line. They're ballies so they only check email, browse the web and the occasional youtube vid. If you have access to the router then there's no issues, and if you are tech savvy, you can get it sorted in your favour quite easily.
Obviously there are downfalls, but it is do-able.
