Think Oblivion. The more you use the weapon the better your skills the better your stats. Im a soldier with Sniper Rifle, Shotgun and Assault Specs.

I do not play my berserker with explosive stuff thank you very much!

We went back and killed Sledge again for Woken last night. I got the second shotgun that dropped off him, but since I'm mostly explosive, it would have been yours.

I also don't mind going back and doing it again to get another shotty, very sweet gun, burst fire and hectic knockback.

EDIT: The more you use a certain type of gun, the more "proficient" your character becomes with that weapon type, giving various bonuses to damage, reload speed and rate of fire etc. You can see it in your character sheet.

Bricks have a side skill tree mostly dealing with explosives, but there are general weapon bonus skills in there aswell. I'm guessing Etiko is built around the general weapon boosts and possibly brawler, so shotty probably works well for him.

1) Only if you follow that skilltree. Which I don't.
2) In a game with bazillions of guns, it's stupid to specialize in a certain weapon. You'll always find something better in another weapon class. I don't put any point into any of my weapon classes.

Your talking about the one dropped by Sledge right? Got it last night and it blows chunks. Its uber powerful yes but two shots that fire of together, you spend half the time reloading. I have a lvl 22 shotty that does a little less damage but has six shells and kicks ass.
