Actually, with the Ultimate Marvel Reboot, Nick Fury was changed to a black man, modeled on Sam Jackson. So really, it's a black man playing a black character.

Ultimate Spider-Man is a character of mixed race (Miles Morales), that is an entirely new character portraying Spidey. So in the future if Sony ever decide to do a side project to Peter Parker and use Morales I wouldn't mind, but rebooting with a black PP and then changing him in the comics to fit in just doesn't make sense. . .



Nick Fury started out white and was played by David Hasselhoff in a Marvel TV movie. So Marvel rebooting him does not change the character's origin, I have Marvel Ultimate Alliance and in that game we see the Nick Fury I posted. . .

You're confusing rebooting and a new character here. Rebooting implies a whole new universe and continuity.. In the Ultimate Marvel universe, we have Ultimate Spider-man, Ultimate X-men etc. We still had Peter Parker in this continuity, who died, and then Morales became Spider-Man. In other wordsm both Morales and Parker are part of the Ultimate Marvel continuity.

Nick Fury, on the other hand, has always been black in the Ultimate Marvel continuity. He first appeared in an Ultimate Spider-man issue, IIRC. Also, the rebooting does change the character's origin. See the differences between Phoenix and Ultimate Phoenix, for instance, or Wolverine and Ultimate Wolverine.

The point, really, is that the version of the character that Sam Jackson portrayed was indeed black, before the films came along.

I think with all the activity of comic book movie rumours, I think it is okay to bring this one back. All the rumours are being spilled over in the Batman vs Superman thread, I think it would be okay if we continue doing all of that in a more relevant place, like this.

A female Dr. Doom would be fantastic; and I think it may just be the best move to make the movie stand apart as something unique...but it all depends on the actress.
