    Question GTA IV no dvd.

    Hi Guys.

I have the original DVD of gta, but was wondering if there is like a image file I can use in stead of the cd? I don't like to keep the cd in my drive the whole time. Think it might scratch. Something like the image file you use for BF2, which still allows you to play online...

You can get a crack to run it without the disks

There's actually an "official" no-cd executable available, but I'm not going to distribute it here, you can find a link on the GTA forums. I think it only works with original activated installs so tough luck to pirates. It also works with the latest patch installed .

Alcohol 120% allows you to mount .iso images onto a CD drive which it makes up, so to speak, for the computer, which lets you play without a CD.

You can also get no-CD fixes at gameburnworld.com

I use no-CD fixes for any game I buy. I hate having to find the CD to play an already installed game.

Oh, just to add, there is a slight problem I've encountered with no CD fixes. It generally replaces one or two files, but I've had about two games where they got somehow bugged because of that and replacing the files fixed it. In Neverwinter Nights 2 it made my character invisible. Heh

Keep in mind that GTA4 requires Social Club to run. Playing online they can easily push an update to detect virtual drives or no-dvd cracks - which could lead to your GTA being disabled.
    Wait... what?

I don't want to pirate the game, just don't want to keep my cd in the drive the whole time. If option 1 doesn't work, I will check out alcohol.

You can block Social Club with firewall
