But you won't be able to re-register you vehicle at the end of the year and no registration is illegal.

Luckily they've upgraded the backroads from my home to work place, so I'm skipping e-toll, thanks for nothing ANC!

The back-roads between PTA and Centurion are rather Sh!tty and the more traffic it gets the worse it will be.

Well either way one of 2 things is gonna happen. Either sanral will be flooded with paper work from all the manual bills or everyone will take to the side roads and the freeway will become a raceway I'm imagining the nurburg ring but less of a ring and more speed

My absolute favorite part about the e tolls so far, is how the ANC compared using highways to using public toilets, which in their eyes are clean. I've yet to see a public toilet that is spotless Talk about a shite story

    Lol...
I dont even live in Jhb and thi makes me livid. My biggest worry is that once they have you on the system they have you by short and curlies... then they can increase prices and there is nothing you can do about it. I can almost guentee you there will be cameras watching the gantries...as they are expecting this behavior. My opinion...make them chase you with paperwork? If everybody does it...its becomes impossible to police...they cant even collect on the current fines outstanding. Im also sure a lot of people will be using false or no number plates. They have not though it through when it becomes to policing this...

This is still gonna explode badly in their faces....you push people enough, they eventually push back...no holds barred. ANC is shooting themselves in the foot with this....I guarantee you that fuel prices wont come down...as one complaint was the fuel levy was not enough...so in theory this should lessen the fuel levy...

This is all about adding extra money in the coffers because they have not managed current income correctly and are now desperate to find another income.

There is still gonna be some bad kak going down because of this... I have a sister that lives in Jhb....

i tried it for a while with my previous car and the amount of photos they take of your car, and the quality of photos they take, i cannot see that people will get away without paying. Every photo they take has a clear shot of your number plate and on most of the photos you can see the occupants of the car. If they can send you fines by taking a picture of your car and its number plate they should be able to do it using this system.

But as for me i will leave the thing in it's box and take the back roads. Will just need to leave a bit earlier in the morning.
That doesn't matter. Millions of people aren't going to pay. That will amount to billions of photos every month. Let's see our already dysfunctional government departments try to admin the amounts of paperwork involved here.

I haven't paid a single speeding ticket in my life. Not even a warning to pay, never mind being summoned to court. Now imagine if they try to take multitudes of people who don't pay to court. Yeah, not going to happen. The only department that functions properly here is SARS (the government is good when it comes to taking money). There is no way that they can enforce this.

Only businesses where delivery timing is important/people who drive company cars are forced to buy e-tags to avoid legal complications, aka where time is money.

Look at what happened in Portugal. This is going to fail in the same way.
