Thread: Alternative Web Browsers

  1. #1

    Default Alternative Web Browsers

Does anybody have experience using a web browser other than Chrome/IE/Firefox/Safari/Opera?

Went to a mates place the other day and he was using Torch, it's a media focused browser with built in video download and torrenting capabilities. It looked interesting, considering giving it a go.

I'm also interseted in trying a couple of others, if anybody has some experience with them I would be interested:
    • Epic Browser
    • Avant
    • Midori
    • Maxthon

Personally, I'm far too ingrained in Chrome.

I love Firefox and I love Chrome. Neither is perfect though but together they could be!

As for other browsers... I think they'd have to work pretty hard to do better than the big guns.

Would be nice to be able to combine the fluidity and smoothness of Chrome with the functionality of Firefox.

I have always been partial to Firefox for home, however for work where we use Microsoft Sharepoint i use IE with multiple tabs for quotes, tracking and basic admin functionality.

i know this does not add to or answer your OP, however having a good all rounder that is established in its market place is usually safer than dabbling with the one's who aren't.

used maxathon for tabbed browsing back in the day before the others followed , but besides Opera and Safari I have not tried many others .
My personal choice is Chrome and I will be hard pressed to move away from it , I personally like how much more responsive and light it is

Yep. Not to mention synchronising my Google EVERYTHING

I know you can sync with Firefox but I've used it three times and all three times it FAILED ME >.<'

They've probably sorted it out by now but Chrome has just worked every time that I needed it to.

I have both installed and I switch between the two when the need arises.

But Chrome is pretty much my main browser and it'd likely stay that way for a while yet.

Although, admittedly, I doooo switch to Firefox for a week or so when a new release is out just to see how I feel about it, but I end up going back to Chrome each time.

I use chrome for general browsing and Opera I use for email and my RSS feeds.

Essentially most are copies of Opera, Chrome or FF anyway.

I use Waterfox primarily, while Chrome has been a godsend as far as not using Adobe Flash has been concerned. I used to fiddle with browsers but I don't have time for fiddling any more. Either this shit works or it doesn't.

Chrome wins man. I've had quite few pc failures in the past few years and it's such a schlep to get all my bookmarks and cookies back to normal. I was a very big Firefox fanboy until I tried Chrome and it changed my life!

No but seriously. tying all your online data to a google account is awesome so when I get a new PC or laptop, I just download chrome and sync it back to my email . The only plugin I use is adblocker so I can't really mention any points on those but for general browsing and saving bookmarks etc, Chrome !
