That's true. I do find that I've outgrown FPS' and enjoy RPG's way more now. I loved The Last of Us and will be trying the MP out as I absolutely enjoyed the SP. Personal taste is a weird thing. One day you are blasting away at noobs and then the next you are playing puzzle platformers. :-D

Abuse comes my way of course but Im expecting it and don't react in the slightest. If a guy wants to get angry while playing then fine thats his story, Im not going to share his anger with him over a flippin game.

Well done on your diamond awards by the way, you obviously own at blops2. I suggest just muting everyone and enjoy being good at your game. Make em suffer
Ha ha. Thanks bro. Yeah, I mute the lobby and most of my party but that feels anti social for me. I love interacting with people and it is great fun chatting away with peeps and playing. I totally get the "owning in silence" thing. It is fun though hearing some guys/girls raging on while you are playing the silent assassin. It is just strange to me how people can get this worked up in a game, but then again, look at how some people watch rugby or soccer. They go ballistic over those. Wow. Tempers flair up when people don't get their way.

Keep enjoying the game and frag some noobs. :-)

I've found it seems to be an FPS thing. FPS games naturally attract the lowest common denominators because they're the easiest genre to get into for multiplayer, so you inevitably end up sharing a game with the worst kind of gamers. I don't even bother with CoD because of this, and as of last year I won't bother with the BF series either. BF2, and maybe even BC2, had one of the best communities, but since the release of BF3 it's just been going downhill to the point where some days the community is just as abrasive as the CoD community. As I see it, I'm better off just not playing those kinds of games because I don't need the added stress and anger in my day. I play games to relax, but with people like that it becomes hard to relax. Same reason I generally don't play MOBAs.

I will echo the sentiment that CSGO has a great community, though. A bit elitist at times, but I'll play CSGO over any other FPS because I know I'm not going to experience any of the childish antics I experience in the other games.

Its because of exploits and swearing kids that I stick to none hyped games when playing MP. Also the pure strategy scene have a distinct lack of children.

Don't know if I ever saw a child in Theater of War/Men of War.

I use to love BF1942, Joint Operations and start of BF2, but once the online stats came into play the kiddies with their hacks soon followed and apparently they all did it with my mom.

Then why not write that instead of leaving a comment that could be considered spam?

But anyway, why do you find my post ridiculous? As a multiplayer genre, the FPS genre is one of the easiest to get into. It's something that appeals to both the casual crowd and the more hardcore crowd and both crowds can get good at, as well as enjoy it in equal measure. There's a reason Call of Duty outsells 95% of the other games on the market every year, and it's not because of it's high barrier of entry or its steep learning curve.

I'd also very much like to know why that above post was ridiculous. I found it was straight forward and quite logical.

How about FPS games are popular just because shooting people is awesome and its something engrained on us since being a toddler? We do it as kids: cowboys and indians, cops and robbers. As adults people play paintball, airsoft, lasertag. The sentiments that people play just because its easy and therefore it attracts all the halfwits is ridiculous.
