CPU Temps SCARY high.
High everyone.
I recently finished building my computer and I haven't bought an after-market heat-sink yet. I never really checked the temps because they seemed to be running OK.
...Then I edited a video and my temps soared up to 100 degrees Celsius and I had the fright of my life.
I'm not sure what cause this problem. Could it be that the stock fan is not contacting the CPU properly or is it just because of the stock fan?

That's in the realm of damaging your CPU.
I'd remove the CPU and heatsink and clean both thoroughly of the stock paste pad that came with it. Use some new thermal paste and make sure the heatsink is fitted securely.
Find some software that can run a stress test on the CPU and monitor temperatures. Even under load, with proper ventilation, a stock cooler shouldn't reach those sort of extremes.

Probably a bad seating. It happens to the best of us. Just replace the paste and reseat the cooler. I doubt that it could possibly be the fan as it's hitting 100 Celsius. What CPU is it? Are you overclocked?

Yup. It's a intel. It's got that retarded push pin design, I still can never get all the pins in correctly.
Reseat your HS and make sure that the pins are turned the correct way in otherwise it does not lock and the HS sit's on top of your CPU and does not have direct contact to dissipate heat correctly.
I use the surgical spirits you get from Clicks, works fine for me but others might have different opinions. I use this thermal paste.
As far as those nasty push pins on the stock HS, you'd be a lot better with something aftermarket, you didn't buy that K edition to sit stock now did you
More of a budget thing at the moment.
