I think we were spoilt with the Underground Series, with illicit street racing and car modifications. Originally NFS was just a racing game, if we look back to NFS I, II III Hot Pursuit. Choose a car, race and win. Simple as that, now that it is going back to it's roots it is not as appealing anymore because it became "arcadistic".

And there is everything that is wrong with Rivals that makes it unappealing to me. Granted, Ghost Games may be good developers and I could possibly end up liking it, but the chances of that happening are very slim.

EA is also known for strangling smaller studios with high workloads. Has anyone here played Shift? Slightly Mad studios stopped making NFS games after Shift 2 and went straight for Gran Turismo's jugular, but on the PC. Considering that Shift was my favourite of all time in the series, I will get into this.

Personally, everything changed for me and the series with Porsche 2000. That was all about the driving experience and was for me, at least, the turning point where driving games that were arcade racers began to no longer matter.

And I remember Most Wanted more fondly because all the cars felt and handled differently from one another. Picking the AUDI RS4 over the smaller BMW Z3 really did change your driving tactics because it was a heavier four-wheel drive behemoth that could grip and slice through any corner so long as your entry point was good and you had done enough braking to maintain grip. That changed with Carbon, it got more lifeless in Undercover and then some retard made all the cars handle like boxes in Shift 2.

The first shift was a piece of brilliance. I loved it and then shift 2 was a let down to me compared to the first one. I loved being able to modify every aspect of the car from Downforce to the Camber. That car was mine and I loved racing it, it suited my driving style and that was awesome. It was the same with Grid, you got to customise the car and it fitted like a glove. I guess that's all I want from NFS, to make my car mine.

So I picked this up on the weekend for R300, I think its awesome. I like the online aspect, you drive around in the open world and challenge other racers. As for customizing you car, that's exactly what I don't want in a NFS game. I just want a simple car racing game.

I actually liked the customizing aspect, but the way they did it in Underground 1. They over complicated it in some of the later releases I think.

Yeah, Ill admit I did really enjoy underground, just not sure I would enjoy it as much now. But think they should release a new one since there seems to be a demand for it.

I really enjoy the online aspect of this NFS. I generally have 6 - 8 drivers in my world. I don't always race them, but its also cool to see them being hunted down by cops. I also like the score multiplier, you only get your cash if you go to your hideout, the longer you are out the higher your score multiplier and the more cash you earn. The higher the multiplier, the more you get chased down. If you get caught before you get back you lose all your cash you have earned while out on the road. It creates a certain amount of tension.

Beats NFS any day of the week

The best NFS for me though was the original Most Wanted though, oh man it had the best OST and I lurved the cars
NFS went downhill after Most Wanted , now I prefer rally.

I enjoy Dirt as well, but feel its closer to simulation than NFS.
