Thread: Anyone here using Windows 8? Problems?

Question Anyone here using Windows 8? Problems?

So I've got Window 7 Basic 30 day trial thing (came with PC) that needs to be updated by the end of those 30 days or I guess it deactivates.

I mostly use my computer for games, music production and photoshop. Will it be better for me to stick with Windows 7 or should I be making the move to 8?

My father has Windows 7 Ultimate. If I install that and try to activate it with its serial key will it work?

Been using Windows 8 Pro 64 Bit since it launched. Haven't really experienced any problems whatsoever.

Both are pretty good (assuming that you move to 8.1 instead of 8). You'll need a valid license that is appropriate for the version of software that you plan to install, e.g. Windows 7 Ultimate, you'll specifically need a Windows 7 Ultimate license.

Also, you and your father can't use the same license for two different machines. I mean, you could, but that would be wrong. And it won't take them long to figure that out.

I use Windows 8.1 at the moment, and I'm liking it. The update actually made Windows apps usable.
    That's what she said.

What Windows 8 does with memory compared to Windows 7 is utterly amazing. Performance wise I am finding a significant different since using 8. As much as I despise the OS I am forced into it due to BSOD's with my VGA on Win7.

I find Windows 8.1 + Classic shell(Free) very livable, in fact I prefer it to Windows 7 or 8 any day. Get best of both worlds. Speed from 8 and look & from 7 well bar Aero but I don't mind the lack of Aero at all.

Another question for you fellas. Lets say I decide to stick with 7, as far as gaming goes is there a difference in performance between the Home Basic and Ultimate?

Not any differences that you would notice, ie in terms of performance no.

Games such as Battlefield 4 make use of Direct X 11.1 (Windows 8 exclusive) which give a boost to performance of games using it.
