Very true. You will get those moms and kiddies that play the game and don't really think about the cost cause it goes off of dad/hubby's credit card. They see it as their entertainment allowance so they don't worry about the R150 spend each month. So unfortunately publishers like EA will rake in the mula because of the ignorance of the plebs. They are not targeting the core gaming community cause they know that we know that they know that they are BS'ing the populous. :-)
Just replay some of the Egypt games and you can build up some coins that way.

I played the pyramid stage and man that thing gets brutal. especially with those dudes that barf up gravestones. In the end every open square has one on, making it impossible to shoot anyone with anything other than weak weapons.
I wanted to ask- how the heck do you get more keys to unlock other stages? I've collected 3 stars on about 6 stages and haven't found any keys on them. The only place I got a key was on the pyramid stage. Do I have to keep playing that?
I found the shop window doesn't just pop up by itself, but the sun very often conveniently positions itself just under the store button, leading to you click it by accident at least once per stage. when the sun is there you cannot collect it either until it moves. Sneaky sneaky.
I finished the game with zero IAP or super power thingies. Some stages have crazy difficulty spikes later on to try nudge you towards purchasing, but it's nothing a few strategies remixes can't fix.
I hear the the bigfoot thing that appears once a day drops up to 3 keys, but so far I've only found gems
Did you play one of those dancing zombie stages back at the house. Man those things are impossible unless you use the powerups. Fortunately you don't need to buy powerups, but they do cost game coins. That brings me to another question- do you need coins for anything else in the game? In PVZ 1 you could save up to buy plants etc, but it looks like dave's store doesn't exist in 2, so are the coins you pick up in the game only useful for using powerups?
