I have a MTN contract that expires in 4 months. I am moving to an area where MTN has very bad to zero 3G reception but Vodacom has very good 3G reception. If I open a new Vodacom contract how can I port in order to keep my MTN number while still in contract? I don't mind paying for 2 contracts for the 4 months but I need to keep my MTN number while on Vodacom.

A suggestion I got was to port from my MTN contract to a Vodacom prepaid number, then convert the Vodacom prepaid to contract. I will then pay for both contracts and simply convert the MTN contract to prepaid when it expires after 4 months.
1. Is this correct or how can this be done?
2. If the above is possible, will I need to load some form of airtime on the MTN prepaid to keep the porting active once the contract expires.
3. Will my Vodacom contract automatically keep the MTN number after the MTN contract expires and is converted to prepaid?
4. What number will be assigned to the MTN prepaid simcard or will it simply become inactive once the porting is done?
5. Once the porting is done will I be able to use the airtime on the MTN contract in some way or will I just be able to use the Vodacom contract airtime?

Help would be much appreciated.
