With a majority of our country either being old school Afrikaans or underprivilidged, these are already two HUGE communitites that don't care about it. The percentage of people who would watch this show right now, would be between about 8.1 - 18.2% of the population.
That is tragically low for a TV show. Also, actually putting money into something that is going to be small is a waste. So no, if you want to do this idea, it would have to be set up properly and be escalated. it should be made so that it is bigger than a show about nerds playing games, coz like I said, people don't care about that.
Now if you can bring through things like: anger, sympathy, jealousy, etc etc...then yes, you could have a show on your hands. These guys have to have something bigger to lose. You know? That's why Idols and those shows are so successful. Because the public can relate to them, feels a connection with them, and actually understands the struggle and privlidge that it is to be on the show.
So I mean, if you are doing this show, the guys playing REALLY need to be good...and they need to have something to lose.
I mean...if you were playing WOW and you put your LVL 80 character on the line...if you lose, he gets deleted...the stakes would be on! Except, we would understand the stakes. The community would not...
Like i said...give it some time...SA isn't ready for it yet. In the near future, sure, there is space for something like this. Just not yet.
