    Default GTX 570 SLI upgrade

    Hi there.

Ok I'm planning to upgrade now. What should I go for. specs

    i5-2500k 4.5GHz
    8GB RAM
    GTX570 SLI Twin Frozr III
    AX850w PSU
    2560x1440
    Corsair Air540 case

so what should I upgrade to.

    GTX780
    GTX770
    2x AMD Radeon R9-280x
    AMD R9-290x (don't like the 95C temp)

If you can also suggest me a cheap store that I can order from. Can we even get the 780 here with the gaming bundle included? I feel having to wait for price drops won't happen till next year. I'm selling my 570SLI for R2600 (already have buyer)

So what card to buy looking for cheap but good option. want less issues etc etc. My reason for upgrading is my resolution(2560x1440), Stuttering due to Fermi/1.25GB RAM. Less heat. Quieter Cards.

I've been asking on forums and can't decide. one guy is like go radeon and then II hear bad things and good things and another guy said go GTX780 cause it will give me smoother FPS. So I think the thing that haunts me is the fact that I never experienced MAD and am scared of struggling with the games and the fact that we get Ubisoft and Nvidia working together to bring exclusive features like HBAO= etc etc to the games makes me also wonder if nvidia is better. I saw a benchmark on BF4 full game and Nvidia wins. I'm also scared mantle might not be as big as people think. We might see just a few FPS more or so we never know.

Well at least you sort of have an idea what you want, I can tell you now that crossfire is epically better and its incredibly smooth.
Having installed 2x 280X recently I can tell you now AMD have been working their ass off with drivers and stuttering and I can clearly see the difference.

I am personally a fan of running 1 powerful card but right now the 290x isn't available locally and won't be for another 3 weeks or so...
If you can't wait I would say try getting 2x R9 280X Graphics cards.

Gigabyte R9 280X Windforce 3 edition, is dead silent while providing ample cooling, really good card, comes with a nice overclock out the box as well.

You could also look at the

Club3D R9 280X RoyalKing Edition. Healthy oc out of the box, comes with a sexy black pcb and backplate and cooler should be pretty decent.

For the time being I would avoid the 770 and 780 to see how pricing drops.

As for Mantle, we don't really know all that much about performance but from what I understand and how EA are raving about it, it might just be really amazing. I would say around 20% extra performance but that is a guestimate from my side.

Nice answer. So should I just get 2 cheap 280x or 2 decent ones. What i can find out is the 280x in CF seems like the only option for me now. but do you think it should be fine for 2560x1440p. Do you think i should first get 1 and if it's not good enough get a second one?

Actually the main reason why I will never get a GTX770 even in SLI is the memory bus and amount of memory. The 280x looks like the sweet spot.

How well does the R9-280x overclock. Seeing as how safe verclocking is these days I will overclock my card for sure. I'm not 100% sure but the thing is the AMd cards is the only ones That supports DX11.2

Well I would go for either the Windforce or the Royal King both will be good.
I have overclocked the windforce cards and on avg I could 1200 on the core without a problem. They also handle the heat very well.

@2560x1440P they will easily out perform a single 290x or Titan for that matter and your absolutely correct about the memory and bus width on the nvidia cards.

I use both AMD and Nvidia cards and I love both brands because I love tech, and honestly Crossfire is much much better than what it was, in fact its better than what its ever been.

Grab one and try and if your happy grab another bud.

I just remembered that is a 128 bit card as well.

So I'm getting 2 of those Club3d royal king cards. I like the looks and that sexy backplate. Awesome price too and hope it cools well and overclocks well. Just one bad thing I have to order tomorrow as Rebeltech only have 3 left. in 2560x1440 the 280x is just slightly slower and with mantle we might see it beat the GTX780 so I'm sure I made a smart decision.

Yes I did ordered it tonight. But I will have to wait for Rebeltech to confirm I can make payment. I hope no one else takes it as I can't let it slip through my fingers.

Thanks The Joker. Now I feel I can finally get rid of my useless GTX570SLI. This stuttering was just driving me nuts.
