I gave it a quick shot on the PC version. You can make it larger, you can make it a bit smaller. You can also unlock the UI and completely move it around to a different place, but it doesn't look like you can completely hide it. I don't think the experience would really be the same if you did completely hide it though. I think there is a button that you can use to hide the entire UI, but that's also only temporary.
