Default Cars Not Being Held Back for Forza 5 DLC, Says Turn 10

Turn 10 is not withholding content for Forza Motorsport 5 for DLC, says Turn 10 creative director Dan Greenawalt, responding to criticism pertaining to the recently announced Forza 5 Car Pass.

“We’re not keeping anything back,” Greenawalt told OXM. “I think people misunderstand the way these things work.”

It takes us six months to build a car, so when I say there's a 10-car pack launching day one – they're not done. We're not done with them yet.”

“So we're not holding anything back, we were crunching to make sure we had this level of quality on all 200 cars. Every one had to be Forza level of quality. This was as many as we could build – straight up. We've built this whole process.”

Reiterating points he made to IGN following the release of Forza 4, Greenawalt again likened the process to firing artillery.

“We started building these cars in waves, so the 200 would be done just in time to get it printed for disc, and we started, three or four months later, the first of the 10 that are going to be delivered on day one, and about a month after that we start the first of the 10 that are going to be delivered the month following. The whole thing is timed so that we're getting them done right before we launch them.”

Forza Motorsport 5 launches on November 22. Just over 200 cars have made the cut, a noticeable decrease since Forza 4 but one not without precedent. It’s perhaps worth noting in 2001 Gran Turismo 3 launched on PS2 with around 180 cars, significantly fewer than the roughly 650 that featured in GT2 on the original PlayStation.

The thing with this is they launch the game with 200 cars end every month comes 10 new cars but at what price?

I want all the nice cars but i don't wanna spend the price of say 10 future games i could buy on 100 cars over a period of a year
in DLC's makes me think more and more going ps4 is the right route i think they tried to rush this too much and now they are giving us a trimmed down game and want to make more money out of people by releasing a 10 car pack every month.

I mean GT6 is launching with 1196 cars vs 200 who's going to sell more? whereof 123 are appearing for the first time in Granturismo 6
it's just a bit one sided for me and from the footage i've seen from GT6 it looks just as amazing.

fair enough but Gt6 still contains close to 850 LOW POLY cars from gt4 thus gt6 actually only launches with just over 300 premium cars (on a current gen console and about 200 of those premium cars are carryovers from gt5 ) The forza 5 cars probably have about 10 times more poly's than the gt6 cars and all of them are made at the same level thus forzavista capable.

i've watched the gt6 footage and i wasnt very impressed to be honest

all true points but it doesn't help you have the best looking cars but you only offer a few of them i mean i love tuning and tweaking cars i'm a race fanatic (used to drive modified saloons for about 6 years) i'm a car nut. so if your going for quantity gt6 6 it would be if you go for quality Forza 5 it will be.

Sometimes it not all just about the looks it's what you can get out of the game too and come one tell me your not a little(even a teensy ) bit disappointing that there are so little amount of cars. and that your going to have to shell out a little fortune to get all the cars eventually or before forza 6 gets announced.

And Gt6 doesn't look too bad it doesn't look epically awesome but it does look good

Don't get me wrong i have every forza title, i love the game but i love cars too

I'm actually quite happy with this. I never play with all the Brazilians of cars that Forza comes with, so maybe this time I'll actually aspire to own all 200 cars AND actually play with them. As long as 50% of these cars are not some "GT" version of the other 50%, I'll be happy.
