As cringe worthy as this is - it'll blow over...on the PS4 side at least. Not so sure about the xbone.
huh? The art assets will be aimed at 1080 if thats what was initially promised. While this will be true post-patch, it still means the game was geared for a 720p native experience in the first place.
i am sure 90% of people wouldn't have noticed or cared, but it was stupid of them to spout off about it running in 1080 and then lock it to 720 and as for COD supposed leading the new-gen platforms that's just sad, since COD is a tired title, redressed and repainted every year, the latest was not even given a new engine. And having 2 brand new platforms for it to play on it was a missed opportunity.
True. They play it safe every year and stick with what works. This makes me meh about the franchise and will be looking at BF but there also you find that the developers stick with what works. With the introduction of dynamic maps in BF your play style and experience will at least be a bit different from CoD where the dynamic elements in the maps are really negligible in most cases. I still love the CoD games as they provide a play style that I like but they need to innovate more and bring something new.
Seriously, it's CoD. Who buys CoD for it's graphics and visual performance
My ignore list: n/a
Calling anything in the CoD world a "new engine" is little more than a marketing stunt. At best its heavily evolved to the point of being visually unrecognizable from the original. Some chunks of the core code are 14+ years old. e.g. if you compare the interaction between various cvars in CoD:Ghost and Quake 3 you'll see they're identical - not similar...identical.
Not that there is anything wrong with that approach - constantly evolving an engine is the logical way to go...just pisses me off when studios pretend its a completely new engine.
