I know. They (Obsidian) can use the Creation engine (which they get from Bethesda), but Bethesda should not write it since their writing skills come nowhere near to that of Obsidian (IMO). Chris Avellone should be writing it, for the most part, and not Bethesda's own writers. Basically IMO Bethesda should stick to Elder Scrolls and let Obsidian develop all the future Fallout games, but using their (Bethesda's) tools etc.
At least there is Project Eternity to look forward to from Obisidian as well...
Fallout 3 was a huge undertaking for Bethesda, to take such a established game bring it to the currant standard of games, while still keeping the feel of Fallout. Hence why I brought it, even thought I pirated and finished the Goty years ago.
I agree, Fallout 3 was indeed a huge undertaking for Bethesda and it was an awesome game (finished it multiple times), but Obsidian proved that they can still make an even better Fallout game with New Vegas. I therefore feel that Obsidian should be the ones at the helm of the entire Fallout franchise going forward. There are, after all, quite a few RPG legends at Obsidian (Chris Avellone, Josh Sawyer, Tim Cain, Feargus Urquhart, Chris Jones), a lot of who were involved with the original Fallout games and other RPG greats like Arcanum, Neverwinter Nights 2, KOTOR 2, Temple of Elemental Evil, Icewind Dale series, Planescape Torment, etc.
I just hope when it finally arrives it isn't as buggy as the previous two games, particularly FNV. That issue aside, FNV is easily one of my favourite games.
