Wow so many issues at launch and some of them like the controller sticks wearing off after only a day says sony went cheap on materials to minimize loss on selling the console at a cheaper price
No wonder this kid went this route![]()
And Francis looks Happy
It's the launch of a brand new system, of course there's gonna be issues at launch. It's the curse of the early adopter. Never has any early adopter gotten an electronic product that worked 100% straight from the box. And besides, the issues are so minor that it is highly unlikely that you will get a faulty PS4 at launch. So far Sony is claiming that only 0.04% of all the shipped units are faulty? And to thing they shipped 1 million units in 24 hours...that means that only 40000 unit was faulty...now that's what I would call a very successful launch.
Actually that isn't bad at all. Yes, things should be purrrfect first time around, but I am wondering how Microsoft will do when they launch. Also curious how many they would need to sell in order to break even or would they look at including revenue made partly from the sale of games?“There have been several problems reported, which leads us to believe there isn’t a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of systems. The number of affected systems represents less than .04 percent of shipped units to date, which is within our expectations for a new product introduction,” the company wrote in response to an article on Eurogamer.
From what I read, Sony made a loss on the PS3 for many years into it's lifetime. What they did do however, was cement the Blu-ray disc as the disc of the future, for that time. And because they are the holders of the Blu-ray patent, they got lots of money from that.
But I would assume that the new consoles would have a faster break-even point, as the manufacturing processes are more aligned to that of PC components, making it cheaper and more efficient to produce, thus giving more headway for future revenue.
