I thought a pseudo-IGN africa already existed because I could access IGN on local cap in the 1gb telkom account days.. But oh well, this is great news!

why is it great news? They are terrible reviewers. all paid to give certain games high marks.

I have to say I like IGN. I've been following their website longer than I've been here at MyG. I don't really care for their scoring systems, an I could care less for any other websites scoring system. The whole game review system has become a complete faux if you ask me. But their content is always very snappy, current and they have a huge budget and following from around the world. With international exposure like that, our fledgling gaming community here in SA can only grow. It will be for that reason also a very good thing for our local developers. Overall a positive move.

    Also this:

The next logical step is to dominate the online space with IGN Africa
So this would make them direct competition to the likes of MyGaming or am way off the beaten track here?

Thing is with ign they don't just do Gaming they do almost everything media wise movies, tv shows, music (my old Fav "babe of the day")
so they cover a wide spectrum of content.

I don't think my gaming will die because of this there is a strong following here and i hope loyal too

I use IGN on a daily basis and yes their reviews are sometimes cooked i feel maybe publishers pay them to undermine each other

But i also think this can be good

I hope it heralds some growth for the gaming market. Competition is good, we welcome it and don't fear it. Maybe IGN can make some of their international advertising partners aware of the SA gaming market, and that will benefit MyGaming as well.
