i'm only scared about one thing about this drive and that is what happens if the drive controller decides to go on the fritz. then you loose both or don't you? And that price is a bit on the steep side i would rather go for the Samsung 840 Evo.

I'm interested in that as well. Reviews will go up in a week or so and we'll get to see what controller it uses. WD already makes enterprise SSDs with custom controller firmwares, so it's possibly Sandforce?

I know that at least there's going to be a port multiplier in there, which leads me to the conclusion that if one of the storage devices fail, the other should remain functional and separately addressable.

With 8GB of MLC NAND, though, and it only acts as a cache drive. The Endeavor's setup is a lot more flexible, although WD is charging an absurd premium for it.

World first? Funny how I've seen notebooks with hybrids in from Seagate probably 2 years ago.
When an anti-piracy method is affecting the game for people who legitimately bought it and causing other people not to buy the game, there is obviously something wrong with it!
