Quite a nice article. I can now send all those pesky non tech people asking me the whole time if it is worth it and what they cost to this article. I bought 1 like a year ago and will never go back. OS boots super fast and programs open a lot faster.

I've been seeing Intel drives disappear from online retail sites for a while now. I know they're still around and doing pretty well elsewhere, but the bigger sites aren't stocking them regularly. For what it's worth I did mention that their stuff is reliable, but the biggest brands are now Samsung, Crucial and SanDisk.

Kinda weird to see OCZ out of the picture now as well.

Well OCZ is gone because they are on the verge of going bankrupt and being bought by Toshiba.
As for the Intel drives people prefer buying other brands because the intel drives are generally a lot more expensive than say Samsung, Sandisk ect.

Personally I only use intel 520 Drives and Samsung 830/840 Drives.

I saw the writing on the wall when I heard about their shady accounting practices, not surprised that they are almost gone now. I hope the talent they got through the Indilinx guys gets to use their skills elsewhere.

You omit that the Intel drives are more solid than bricks, too. :-P

I can't afford a 520 either. Would love to find a second-hand one because the SSD Toolbox is a nifty piece of software.

Rule 1) Buy a big one
Rule 2) Refer to rule 1

Really feeling sorry for the okes buying atm though - stuff is almost double what I paid a year back which is pretty crazy given that one would expect the opposite. o_0

    Crap exchange rate FTL.

I would say if you can afford to buy a SSD, Try save up and grab a 240GB as the bare minimum.
With games like BF4 and COD Ghost aka crap taking up 80GB of hdd space and with games Like Witcher 3 and Watch dogs right around the corner I don't see the value in getting 120Gb drives.

Still trying to understand how they managed that 40gb. e.g. Skyrim is 13 GB and its by no means small / ugly.
