I recently swapped to The google books e-reader - works really great plus it is syncing with my phone so I can read on both devices and the app syncs the places I am in the book. You can normally enlarge the fonts tho in all e-readers.

I haven't tried pdfs yet but I normally just grab the ebook for Google Books and it works really well on the 7". Very readable and as Wyvern said, it's all nicely synced with Google so if I ever decide to put a new rom on then it'll sync down again and be exactly where I left off

Screen is def on the smaller end and I had my doubts at first but it really is of no consequence. Great screen quality and apps/games work really well with the size

Same as Wyv, I use the Google Play Books, it links across to all Android devices and syncs your read pages even to your pc if you read on there.

The best thing for me was that I can upload my books on my pc and just mark it for download on my devices.
Same idea as Kindle app, but cheaper and a bit more freedom to load your own books.
