The only game thats got me seriously freaked out was a game on PS1 called Alone in the dark... And it said on the disk box, best played... Alone.. in the dark...

    Worst... advice... ever...

I was so freaked out i couldn't play for more than 20 mins... But since then, nothing has really gotten to me...

The games need to have massive build ups and then a completely unexpected scare followed by a jumpscare ASAP, to be completely successful in scaring me.
Have you played Outlast? It released last year. It's about a journalist who investigates an insane asylum. Most of the game takes place in the dark with only the protagonist's night vision camcorder to see through (which runs on batteries!). Unfortunately it's PC exclusive but it is probably the best survival horror game I have played since the PS2 days. I usually can't stand first person games, and even I was drawn in by this one. It should be noted that there is zero combat in this game except for certain scripted sections so if guns are a must for you, you won't like this. It was however very terrifying for me (and I couldn't get through an hour of Amnesia because I found it incredibly boring). Best played with earphones!

I saw this game. They took a few people. Put them in a dark room with earphones and this game watched their reactions as they played. Was pretty damn funny.

What's that new one coming out soon? That apparently takes survival horror to the next level?

The Evil Within? It's being developed under the direction of the "master of survival horror" Shinji Mikami (he created Resident Evil).

Yes! That one. I hope it brings back that scare factor that they used to have in horror games.

Same here. It was severely lacking during the last generation. Trailers look very promising.
