Ooh and I hope they do announce Half-life 3 or Portal 3 in during the course of the year! The source engine itself was impressive back in 2004.. cannot imagine what they will do with source2

There wasn't actually any "announcement" from dev days; we are just filtering out news from developers in attendance.
So, the news isn't about an "announcement" of OpenGL support in Source 2 - that's extrapolation I added for a complete headline.
The news really is more about Source 2 being in development, and with its OpenGL support, touching on the implications for the future of Linux-based gaming.

OpenGL, my grandfather mentioned that from back in his day![]()
the problem with valve is they always try to be secretive and yet info still ends up getting leaked, i remember a few months ago before cs go was released there was already rumours and screenshots of source 2 info on the valve servers, valve should just announce source 2 is due this date and it will have this features and support these platforms, the same with half life 3 there's constant rumours and speculation why cant gabe just say HL3 is not in development once source 2 is done or some other game is done and then hl3 will go into development etc.
Pffft, please - I remember the days of 3Dfx Glide :P
