So do we at my IT office, we use them under table-legs to reduce wobble
No but honestly, I've never had good experiences with networking devices from Planet or ZyXel. Their 8-port HUBs aren't bad, but that's it. PoE... Gosh, needs a reboot every hour. If they can't get that right, I can't imagine their router quality is any better.
First off sorry for the slight Necro, but this was the last available topic close to what i want to ask, and after reading im quite interested in the way you went with this, what was the final outcome if you dont mind me asking?
I had a Telkom D link modem that's been hit by a power surge, and im now in the market for a new Router... Been looking at the Asus RT-N66U that i see a few people here recommended to you, its still a bit on the pricey side though...
Im also looking for a router that i can plug my DSL line straight into, apparently with the Asus RT-N66U you need another modem to "bridge" the connection to the router or something? Could someone shed some light on this? Im wanting to spend a bit of cash as i want the router to last a few years, and I want to be able to stream series and movies to my PS3 and possibly more things in the future...
Any advice would be appreciated...
It's never a necro unless it's a pointless post (and this is its not)
By DSL are you refering to the Red/Yellow RJ45 plug (Looks like a phone line) then I can highly reccomend this: http://www.takealot.com/computers/bi...outer,10813135
I got a PS4 and Four PC's hooked up to it, no problems.
I own it and yes, it's a fantastic router but it's a router in the strictest sense--it's not a modem.
Essentially, if you have a modem or a router with a built-in modem you can use that, set it to bridged mode and connect it to the RT-N66U's WAN port. The modem then deals exclusively with connectivity and the router deals exclusively with precisely that--routing.
This looks ridiculously cheap! Whats the streaming like over 150meg though? Iv heard you need a minimum of 300?
Would you advise going this route? (see what i did there?)
Is it not a better option to go with a router modem combo? I have an old (well new in the box but old) D link modem that iv never used that could work as the bridge, but I would prefer to have just 1 unit i think? Unless you can let me know why doing it with the bridge is a better option?
