    While I still absolutely love my PC, I find there are so few PC exclusive that are great amazing games compared to say all the awesome exclusives that come on console.

    Best option - Get a PC AND a console >_<

    Back on topic;

    You can't really compare the PS3 to a PC spec-for-spec, but if you were to...

    The PS3 has the Cell (1 PPE + 8 SPEs (1 disabled, 1 dedicated to Hypervisor), all @ 3.2GHz). While it's not much of a multi-purpose processor (for desktop usage), it's amazing for certain tasks. If you want something to "match" the PS3's Cell, you need a CPU that's great at parallel processing, but mediocre at other things. An entry-level Core i7 should blow the Cell away on the desktop.

    The PS3 also has 256MB XDR RAM (Rambus). This is clocked at 3200MHz. What's better than this? 4GB of DDR3

    The PS3 has the RSX, an admittedly shameful GPU based on an old nVidia. Most modern graphics cards should annihilate it.

    The big one is the PS3's Bluray drive. It may not be able to write DVDs and CDs, but it IS able to read Bluray discs. One of those for your PC would set you back a fair amount. Think R1000 - R1500.

    By now you get my drift: you can't compare the two in terms of specs.

    If you want a simple no-nonsense gaming platform, get a PS3. If you want a versatile gaming machine that can play games at the same level as on a PS3, buy yourself a mid-range gaming machine (Core 2 Quad, 4GB RAM, 4890), and a PS3 Dualshock3 controller

    Like I said. I already got a moerse pc at home. Now thinking about getting a PS3. The soundcard on the ps3 is also very good (DTS, THX, etc) will go good with my Z-550. But what do you all think. still worth the R4299

    Well check here, console games that are very good, u cant play on pc. Like uncharted 2, Metal gear solid 4, resident evil took a while to come onto pc but it came to console first. Lost planet 2 is also gonna be awesome as well as army of 2 the 40th day. If you really like to co op with your friends but dont want to lug a pc around, ps3 is awesome for that. I would say only get a pc if u are going to be doing competitive gaming, but if u want games that are fun and awesome, the games that are released for ps3 are much better in terms of gameplay, story line ect. although some titles are also released for pc, but most of the titles that are awesome dont come to pc unfortunately... The sixaxis controllers are awesome on a ps3. As well as always new technology comming onto ps3, couple of months time they gonna bring out new motion controllers just to add awesomeness to gameplay.

    Don't know if it was mentioned yet - a PS3 doesn't run Windows!!! So a def win in my books!

    and it makes a cool media centre - even my 4 yr old knows how to get to her movies on the hdd!
