Well if MOBAs are allowed then Dota 2 easily wins my vote. Otherwise the only RTS I played last year was Heart of the Swarm and as much as I enjoyed it I doubt it qualifies as GOTY material.

Seeing that I prefer more of a realistic combat over medieval and fantasy I would go with

I would be surprised if anything other than DOTA 2 wins this category purely looking at the number of people playing it, even if personally I feel that its not pure strategy game.
