It is as if corporates (especially in 'Merica) see court and lawsuits the same as gambling in a casino. You file a ridicules lawsuit and roll your dice. If you're lucky, you score big time. If you're not, you move on to the next table and roll again.

I play Candy Crush here but why would they need to trademark two common names?

They don't need to, they are just being a typical greedy corporation!

Good point. The combination of Candy and Crush in conjunction with their logos and artwork should be enough to sort out any infringements/imitations like "Kandy Krush".

Geez it seems people will sue for anything these days just to get a buck that is actually so sad and if it backfires and they lose there is the possibility of loosing their rights to some other things and pretty soon we lost an addictive game

I read about this at Rock Paper Shotgun. It's ridiculous. The people at King.com must be such jerks. If I knew anyone like that in real life I would ask that person what the hell is wrong with you?

Reminds me of an article I read over at MyBB with quotes from Craig Opperman:

“When dealing with US companies in matters like these it’s important to remember US litigation culture,” said Opperman. “In the US people sue one another for just about anything.”

Opperman, a South African and US lawyer who practised in Silicon Valley for 21 years before joining Naspers in July 2013, said that this attitude pervades through the big American companies.

“They see going to court as part of their business arsenal,” Opperman said.

Lawsuits are just part and parcel of business in the USofA.

Go here and submit them a message. I'm trying to get as many people as possible to do it. Even if it's not enough to make any difference, it will be nice for them to see that a lot of people think what they're doing is not okay. Speak your mind, but try to keep it civil. By that I mean insulting them is fair game, just don't make it a string of insults and profanity.

Even more sad is they are going after people who got their initial funding from crowd funding. So by doing this they are screwing over the community surrounding the game.
