    Thumbs up Microsoft: Great Support

My Microsoft Habu mouse (manufactured by Razer) has been giving me lots of connectivity problems over the last couple of months. I've had it for a couple of years now but I really liked the mouse and I can't afford a new gaming mouse at the moment.

So I went to computer repair shops to hear if they would fix it but no one was able to help me. I knew the problem was with the cable and I just wanted someone to replace the cable with a different Razer cable, as Dax did with his Habu. Everyone just looked at me strangely and shook their heads.

I didn't want to contact Microsoft because I didn't think it would help. I was wrong though.

The guy (I don't know if I may name him, will email him and ask) that helped me via Microsoft support was friendly and helpful. The Habu is obsolete and they couldn't replace or fix it. But he told me that he would talk to his manager and that he would email me.

So a couple of days ago I got a mail from him. Asking me if it's alright if they replace the Habu with a Sidewinder X5. That's great! Some people would say that the X5 isn't as good as the Habu but I'm getting a brand new mouse that works. All at no cost to me.

Great stuff! They came to get my Habu today and I'll be getting the X5 next week.

    Thanks Microsoft support.

I've got this old Logitech mouse that I had with an old pc. It's weird going from a gaming mouse to this old mouse. But it's alright because I know something good is coming.

I'm glad it finally worked out, Solitude. I think I may have just been pretty lucky that I knew someone who had a spare Razer mouse cable, but at least you're getting a brand new mouse

Hi Solutude, thx for replying on my 'Habu double clicking issue' thread!

Do u reckon they might be able to replace/fix mine even though it is out of warranty?

The mouse might be a bit older than 3 yrs old now, but u must see, it is in pristine condition as I've hardly used it and been ultra careful with it when transporting it.

PM me if u have the contact details of the microsoft dude I can contact please

In the meanwhile I'll research the X5 and see if that would be a worthy replacement.

Whew, if it's already out of warranty then I don't think they'll replace it StrontiumDog. I am lucky that mine was still under three years old.

You can try though by using the Microsoft support site. Just make sure it's set to South Africa (the website): https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...rid=12104&st=1

You can set the country at the top.

Good luck man! My X5 will be arriving either on Thursday or Friday. I hope they can do the same for you.

Atleast some companies still believe in customer support. Others would just tell you no and let you buy a new one.

    +1 to Microsoft SA

OK, will double check the purchase date. Wish i had know I had 3 years warranty. Bought it from Take2. Assumed the warranty to be 1 year It starting acting up after 2 years

Dax, so was your mouse double clicking all the time or only some of the time?

Tank reckons it was his PCB that was the problem:

Nice one, glad someone in SA is getting a good experience with support with products, it's quite rare
