I enjoyed both but for different reasons. I almost felt that Witcher 2 wasn't made to be easily accessible. Geralt himself had trouble actually functioning in the world and it was almost like a new level of meta that you as a player experienced the same confusion and disillusionment to the world as he did.

Bethesda games though have to be easily accessible because of the fact that the world itself has to include you because of the fact that the character is created; thus everyone will have slightly different outlooks on how they want the game world to be.

As long as the game is enjoyable enough till the end to get that satisfied - finished the game feeling, I'm happy. I think maybe the only game I can think of in recent times where I found it unsatisfyingly short was COD MW3, and I havent played a COD since.

Theres nothing worse than being bored by a game and archiving it mid-game cuz you just couldnt be bothered to finish it...

Im sure we could all think of many examples of games that we in the ~5hr length mark that left us feeling satisfied with the experience! To the Moon stands out for me as one of those

True story. A game length is irrelevant if you have no desire to actually finish it.

And the last game I played for 5 hours was Monopoly and I hated the ending

IMPO, games these days are way too short.

A LOT of the recent games I've played, there's a lot of achievement/challenges/collectible hunting. 3 to 4 different diffuclty levels (to unlock after each playthrough).

To me, this just gives the impression of a 'long game' because you spend so much time (if you put the time into it) to get these things.

I remember playing games for months, because its long and fun and hard. You buy a game today, you can finish it in what, less than a week?

Games are not to long according to Game Informer they played the entirety of the main mission in Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeros in 2 hours.

    Depends on the game.

RPG - I expect a huge number of hours of play time, with LOADS of content.

    FPS - averaging 5 - 35+ hours (e.g Battlefield SP - Far Cry 3, respectively).

MMO - same opinion as RPGs.

Racing - as long as it takes to finish a required amount/number of races - be it track or open-world based.

Basically, my sum up, afaic with regards to the genre, series or type.

As I said in the MGS thread, I am quite fine with the playtime. Also, They did mention that this time didn't include any side missions or optional objectives, so I think its being blown out of proportion
