It might be a while though. Abandoning a console so soon will show no confidence in their products, which they have vehemently tried to uphold.

I'll think you'll have to wait a few years.
    That's what she said.

They seem to do 3-6 years so wouldn't be surprised its out next year the earliest.

Funny, how nobody has noticed that when they lowered their forecast on number of consoles sold from 9 million to 3 million (67% lower) they only dropped the forecast on games for the console from 19 million to something like 17 million. So they expected the average console owner to only buy 2 games, yet they are buying more than 5 atm. Buy first-party games only and you'll have a blast.
When an anti-piracy method is affecting the game for people who legitimately bought it and causing other people not to buy the game, there is obviously something wrong with it!

Well its no secret that the Wii was the best selling console of the previous generation.

I honestly think that Nintendo would be better off dumping the Wii U and solely focusing on their handhelds.

I had the opportunity the other day to use a 3DS for about 4 hours and in that time I really considered getting one. Its just such a cool little machine with so many wonderful games.

But to the answer the OP's original question, no I don't think that Nintendo's in trouble.

Sony announced the layoff of 5,000 employees. I don't Nintendo is the company in trouble

Also the Wii was the best selling console of the previous generation and the Wii-U can play ALL Wii games. Therefore it is the natural upgrade path for those who had Wiis and are looking to play games in full HD.
