Would you risk death to save your gaming device?
Nope, but for family and children photographs (on hard drives), the grandfather clock, cuckoo clock and some of my books I would risk it. I have a few things I have inherited which no amount of money could replace. It's pure sentiment, so I would risk it several times if I had too. All the gaming stuff can be replaced.

Maybe its worth getting a big dropbox account for stuff like that. Also helps in the event of HD failure, which seems to happen to all my externals for some reason..

For me it would depend on the console.

If its like a SNES signed by a game designer or something along those lines then yes but only if the fire wasn't raging out of control and destroying everything in its path yet.

Or you could ask firefighters to try and get the fire out wherever that is located first, then retrieve it.
