Forgive my ignorance, but is the only way to get an update on a console through the console's internet itself? You can't download it to a PC and then transfer it over the network or on a USB?

Well then, if you can do the same thing with Xbox, perhaps internet cafés or gaming/technology shops could keep game update files, and people with discless consoles could just pop in there with a flash drive and get the update![]()

In an ideal world yes... But i know for a fact that with the standard X-Box One you HAVE to connect to the internet on day 1 and do a mandatory update... at the end of the day something we have to realize is that the gaming industry is not HEAVILY reliant on the internet, and the big guys dont give a rats ass about us 3rd world countries with our shitty internet connections...
But surely the main issue is downloading the huge game updates? I can't think people with Xbox's wouldn't have ANY internet, so I'm sure firmware updates are doable. And perhaps if the demand for more downloads and faster internet speeds increase, someone will finally fix the terrible internet we have in South Africa.

Mmm. That would be ideal. At home I have a measly 3G connection that's capped. At work, at work I get to play![]()

Apparently Microsoft have rejected these rumours of a diskless model:
