Default AMD Mantle 45% faster in BF4

    Have You Guys seen this:

    http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/01/09/ba...-to-45-faster/

Im starting to get the idea that this whole mantle thing is going to kind of just blow over and never really take hold a few games might use it and then its slowly going to die out.

I hope im wrong because it could be a good thing in the long run if it becomes a standard that nvidia can use as well

45% with what hardware? I assume tests where done on R9 series cards instead of the R7/8 where the performance boost is needed the most If they can successfully gain 45% (ala 60fps on high) with a R7 260X then I will be impressed, other than that the only thing thats going to keep it going is if a lot of devs start to use it.

It won't blow over. Firstly from what little I've seen it seems to have at least some merit and secondly...BF4 committed to it. Think about that...they wouldn't have done that unless the devs (presumably somewhat knowledgeable chaps ) decided that this is going to fly.

@Glor - I'd expect the crazy games to happen mostly at the low/mid range of the gfx spectrum. Which is good news...then devs can aim higher with the minimum performance specs.

I also don't think it'll blow over. All the new games from EA, which are running Frostbite will support it. Star Citizen is supporting it. Thief is supporting it. They've worked hard with a lot of major industry players, and have invested too much time to let it "blow over".

The 45% increase was with a 280X and one of the higher end FX chips, I think I read that somewhere. I'll look for the article...

EDIT: Couldn't find the source of the BF4 demo, but found an image running a demo using their new APU's. Sorry for the large picture:

NVidia cards can also use Mantle, hell anything can use it, they're even planing for mobile use in the long term. It's up to NVidia to decide weather or not to support it though.

I doubt you'll need a new GPU for Dark Souls 2, it's a PS3/360 game, the other two however...nobody knows for sure.

They will have to support it if they want to make the sales. Old cards will be beating the best of Nvidia's cards. I definitely believe they will implement it soon, or find some way to compensate.
