I agree completely with the bold bits.
I've reduced my absolute pet peeve to just one thing though: Inconsiderate people. That is the core of what ticks me off--people who don't realise that there are other folks around them sharing the same space. Think before you act, before you light up a fucking cigarette or mouth off at someone.
There are plenty of people who deserve the derision that they get but, factually, the lady at the till in Pick 'n Pay, doesn't. Your waitron almost certainly doesn't. The person who sits next to you on a bench and says, "Good day" doesn't deserve to be flat-out ignored or treated with disdain simply because you weren't raised well enough to offer a courtesy response.
People who think that the world owes them something--who think it's hilarious to graffiti public or private property, who throw their garbage around instead of using a fucking bin like a civilised human being.
People who chuck their shit in recycling bins instead of sorting correctly because, fuck, that's too complicated.
Or people in the public service industry, whose jobs rely on being kind and displaying some measure of civility but act as though you're wasting their time and as though they're God's gift to mankind (traffic department or Home Affairs, anyone?).
So my issue is thus: the inconsiderate, self-obsessed mindless troglodytes and savages that live in our societies who can't think about anyone other than themselves.
